This year, Tokyo Cricket association decided to suspend 40 over league in favour of T20 to give more opportunity to players and club to play more games and also to clubs to provide opportunity more player to take the field. On the first day of a tournament, the doubleheader was scheduled at Edogawa ground between AQCC vs IECC and AQCC vs Serendib in the afternoon.

Indian Engineer XI vs Alpha Quashers-Yokohama XI

IECC captain Manu won the toss and elected to field first considering uneven nature of the wicket and take advantage to exploit the wicket to full advance. AQCC captain Srini is looking relaxed this season as for the first time, the batsmen have posted big totals on the board consistently in 40 and 20 over games. IECC looks fairly a new team and in the rebuilding process. Bowling attack is also new. The First 10 overs match looked evenly poised as scorecard read 67/ 2. IECC was looking for 140runs as a target but in Last 10 over, AQCC batted brilliantly and took advantage of IECC wayward bowling. Nandha changed the game with 17 balls 47run in last 4 overs. In the end, AQCC posted 197 runs in 20 overs. The last 10overs produced 130 runs.

Chasing 198, IECC started cautiously without losing a wicket till 7 th over. However, AQCC disciplined bowling assisted by uneven wicket made batting difficult. Prashant, Atul Joshi and Ashok Kumar batted patiently but run rate kept getting higher and finally IECC failed to chase down and fell well short by 64 runs. Nandha for his brilliant performance with bat and ball was awarded Nirvanam Man of the Match Dinner coupon worth 4000yen.
