On Saturday, July 4th, Governor of Tokyo requested residents without Tokyo Metropolitan Area to refrain from travel to other prefectures. JCA officially obliging this request, informed regional association and all clubs that all matches to be held on Sunday will be cancelled. The message was sent via email to all clubs a late night.
The match shall be officially declared a “no result” fixture. This year due to shortened schedule, it is unlikely to have rescheduling of the games.
Since the lifting of the state of emergency for the capital on May 25., Tokyo reported a record number of COVID-19 infections for the third straight day. There were 131 new cases on July 4, 124 on July 3 and 107 on July 2.
