Both teams feature many young players who are 9 to 11 years old. Alpha Quashers Cricket Club (AQCC) Yokohama won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing 2 quick wickets in the first 2 overs, a small partnership of 20 runs brought some confidence back in the AQCC camp. As batters continued to push for runs, kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Last wicket partnership of 30 runs helped AQCC post a challenging score of 104 runs
Lions 15 opened up with Jamie Fordyce and Vijay An. Jamie was in ominous form and tool the bowling apart. His batting alone was the difference between the two teams. Along with scoring runs, he kept rotating strikes. With an individual score of 35+ runs, he was retired out. The other batters kept pushing and nudging or 1 and 2s to steer Lions smoothly over the line. AQCC gave away 25 extra runs that eased the pressure on the Lions.
Overall, both teams had an excellent day on the field with family members supporting them all along. Thanks to excellent management, Japan U15 T20 Cricket league games so far are moving forward in this 2021 season that has derailed senior domestic cricket.
