Match report by Rubel (Tokyo Rangers)
Double Strike (Tokyo Rangers beats the weather and the Falcons) Rain, wet and overcast conditions. Will, there be the match or will it be cancelled? That was thought running through the minds of the players. Irrespective of the conditions, with determination to play, both the teams decided to play. Falcons won the toss and elected to field. Trying the use the overcast and wet conditions to their benefit. Saki opened the batting with his new partner Ranil. Saki has been good form this season and has been giving good starts this season. Today was no different. Saki continues to play his natural game, playing sensible shots and defending good balls. After getting a dropped chance, Ranil got himself run out and there was a short hiccup when the following batsmen Fernando and Jawad did not last long. Enters another man in form -Rakib. Rakib and Saki built the innings and took the score past 100 without losing anymore wicket.
Heat and humidity started to get on Saki and he decided to retire to let the fresh batmen continue with Rakib. Abhishek joins Rakib and they go on to provide another vital partnership for the Rangers. Rakib played some big shots sending the ball outside the park. With the intention of making some quick runs after 30 overs, the Rangers kept losing wickets and were eventually bowled out at the end of 39th over.
Target Set – 158 in 40 Overs. Under these conditions, 157 runs is a defendable score, considering the Rangers bowling attack.
The Rangers started with captain Solaiman and mystery spinner Abhisek (Good move by the Captain). The Falcons found it difficult to negotiate the Speed and Bounce of Solaiman and the accuracy by Abhishek. Falcons lost 4 wickets inside 6 overs with the score less than 10. Things got worse for Falcons with the bowling change and Ranil the tall lanky bowler scalped 3 wickets in 4 overs. With 7 wickets gone in 23 runs and bonus points in mind, Solaiman went for the kill. He rotated his best bowlers in short spells and eventually bundled out the Falcons for a mere 31 runs. Falcons All Out for 31 runs.
Highlights of the game would be Saki handling the new ball threat with class, Rakib hitting 4 big sixes losing balls out of the ground. 2 good runouts (Rakib &Rubal combo) Ashishek’s economical figures. (3 for 7)
